Heat or Hype?

I know this may be a touchy subject for some people. But I have legitimate questions on this. For those footwear collectors, not resellers, but those who buy to wear, what is it about for you? Are you buying for the hype or because you genuinely like the product? I ask for real reasons. I don’t wanna get too deep into specifics because I believe in him. Everyone has their own style and what they like or don’t like. I can respect that. But some of the styles I see are just not it. Maybe it’s me. Maybe I’m just missing it. But I really do believe some of the footwear out there is just to see if designers can pull off something outrageous and get the hype train on board to boost sales. I know for some people, that’s what they’re into, and I respect it. I don’t yuck anyone's yum. But what’s it about for you? Is it having something completely wild and original? Are you more of a classic collector? Childhood nostalgia? Something else? A lot of people have different stories behind their buys. I know for me I can say it’s a healthy mix of all of these. Every pair did a little something different for me. But at the same time, it has to have functionality within my everyday style. I remember going and dropping a nice chunk of change a few different times in my younger days just to have them sit in a closet in a box because they didn’t function with my everyday wear. But I had to make sure everyone knew I got a pair. Times have changed. My taste for heat remains at an all-time high. But I do it with a little more caution than back in the day. What about you?
